Born in Aniche in the Nord region of France, José Herbert taught in Vred and Auberchicourt before becoming head of a rural school in a small village in the Cambrésis region, where he was also town hall secretary. He now lives in peace in Loos-en-Gohelle, near Lens.
Seized by the writing bug, he is the author of nearly twenty books: novels, first-hand accounts, detective stories and short stories. José loves history, particularly the Middle Ages. His plots, though contemporary, contain a return to the past. He was a historian of the Cambrésis region. He has written many well-documented articles for a local history magazine.
His worlds and characters are peculiar, offbeat, zany, cynical and out of the ordinary.
